The plant is expected to generate 750 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year, which is enough to power over 1,000 homes. The plant is also expected to help reduce Kerala’s carbon emissions by 600 tonnes per year.

The floating solar plant is a part of the Kerala government’s plan to set up 1,000 MW of solar power plants in the state by 2022. The plant was developed by the state-owned Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in partnership with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

The floating solar plant is a cost-effective way to generate solar power. The cost of setting up a floating solar plant is about 20% lower than the cost of setting up a ground-mounted solar plant. Floating solar plants are also less disruptive to the environment than ground-mounted solar plants.

The inauguration of India’s first floating solar plant is a major milestone in the country’s renewable energy journey. It is a sign of the growing interest in floating solar plants, which are seen as a promising way to generate solar power in water bodies.

Floating solar plants are also being considered as a way to generate solar power in areas that are not suitable for ground-mounted solar plants, such as deserts and forests. They are also being considered as a way to improve the efficiency of existing hydroelectric power plants.

The inauguration of India’s first floating solar plant is a positive development for the country’s renewable energy sector. It is a sign that India is committed to increasing its reliance on clean energy sources.
